Bank Holidays

22/05/08

I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend. That might have something to do with the fact that it’s my birthday and I’ve got a weekend of celebrations and niceties planned. To be honest I love Bank Holidays even if there are no celebrations to be had; it’s great to have an extra day off and therefore a long weekend. Sometimes I use the Bank Holiday to just do absolutely nothing for a change; if I’m feeling flush (which isn’t very often) I might treat myself to a bit of shopping; other times I take the opportunity to do something a bit different, like a day out somewhere with friends, as per the last Bank Holiday. I have to sympathise with the cynics because in this country you never can tell. The month of May always used to be sunny years ago but nowadays with summers getting later, if they come at all, you can’t ever guarantee what hand you’ll be dealt from the skies. So (swiftly moving on, before we slip into a banal debate about the weather… yawn!), all this concentration on my Bank Holiday got me thinking about what other people think about them. So, colleague and camera in tow, I slipped out the office and into Soho Square to see what I could find out...
