Skinny Jeans for (fat) boys

‘Why?’ This was the question that bounced round my head as I walked behind a fella who, quite frankly was old and portly enough to know better, waddling in an unfeasibly tight pair of white denims.
The thing is, unless you’re under 25, in a band – and most critically in my book - skinny, you’ll look like a fool. If you don’t tick these three boxes, they look remarkably uncomfortable and necessitate you either showing your off-white boxers to the world or unceremoniously hoiking your trousers up by your belt loops every 10 or so strides. Plus you can’t walk up stairs, run for buses / trains or carry anything in your pockets. Steer clear, boys!
Consumers are a strange bunch. In spite of evidence to the contrary (see above) generation after generation seem unable to stop themselves buying into what is considered fashionable, cool and ‘now’. What informs these choices, why follow the crowd, who decides what is cool, how do they convince us their choices are the right ones to go for? Being able to answer these questions and understand the choices we make is what led me to research and what keeps me interested. It also gives me a platform to rant at people who ought to know better. Anyway, off to Top Man to get me some day glo fingerless gloves – they are so the look for autumn.
